Sacraments & Pastoral Care
To arrange any of the sacraments below, please contact the church office so Father can meet with you.
Baptism & Chrismation
Through Baptism we are born again of water and the Spirit, and through Chrismation we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. In the Coptic Church both are celebrated together, for infants and for adults entering the faith.
Arrange a baptism →Confession
Regular confession with a father of confession is at the heart of Orthodox spiritual life and prepares us to receive Holy Communion. Confession is offered on Saturday evenings and by appointment.
Book a time with Father →Holy Matrimony
Couples planning to marry in the Church meet with Father in advance for preparation and to arrange the date of the crowning ceremony. Please get in touch well before your intended date.
Start wedding preparation →Unction of the Sick
The Church prays for the healing of body and soul through the anointing of the sick. Father can also visit those who are unwell at home or in hospital.
Call the parish →Holy Communion
The Eucharist is offered at every Divine Liturgy. Orthodox Christians prepare by fasting before the Liturgy and through regular confession.
What to expect →Funerals & Memorials
The parish stands with families in times of loss. Please contact Father as soon as possible to arrange funeral prayers and memorial services.
Call the parish →Get Involved
Sunday School
Classes for children and teens teach the Bible, the lives of the saints, church hymns and the meaning of the Liturgy, in a warm environment led by dedicated servants.
Register your child →Youth Group
Young people grow together in faith and friendship through meetings, Bible study, retreats, service projects and fellowship. Newcomers are always welcome.
Ask about youth meetings →Church Choir & Hymns
Learn the beautiful hymns of the Coptic Church in Coptic, Arabic and English. Deacons and choir members help lead the congregation in praise during the services.
Join the choir →Feasts and fasting seasons
The Coptic Orthodox Church follows its own ancient calendar, inherited from Egypt. The Coptic year begins on 11 September (12 September before a leap year) and has thirteen months. Its feasts and fasts set the rhythm of parish life.
The main fasting seasons are Great Lent and Holy Week before the Feast of the Resurrection, the Nativity Fast before Christmas on 7 January, the Apostles’ Fast, the Fast of the Holy Virgin Mary in August, and the three-day Fast of Nineveh. Wednesdays and Fridays are also kept as fasting days for most of the year.
Special services for these seasons are posted on our church calendar.
