The Coptic calendar
The Coptic Orthodox Church follows its own calendar, which dates back to ancient Egypt. The Coptic year begins on 11 September (or 12 September before a leap year) and has thirteen months. Major feasts and fasting seasons follow this calendar, which is central to the rhythm of Coptic spiritual life.
